Crafting

This page covers crafting in this TTRPG system.

Crafting in this system is different from other TTRPG systems.  In lieu of having specific crafting skills, purchased with precious skill points at character creation, this system makes every character competent to build & maintain their own equipment.

Equipment Maintenance & Repair

Regular maintenance and repair shouldn’t get too much screen time in your games.  It is something that happens off-screen.  When regular maintenance & repair is a concern, assume that a character who has the requisite skills or powers is able to repair & maintain their equipment.  For example, a Close Combat expert will know how to hammer out their blade when it’s bent, and a Ranged Combat expert will know how to clean their rifle.

Crafting As Character Advancement

There are a number of ways to use crafting as an in-universe explanation for character advancement.

All characters spend experience to advance their traits.  When purchasing powers with the required equipment power limiter, a crafting montage may replace the training montage trope.

Many assets represent objects that someone had to craft; weapons, armor, vehicles, and even personal beauty.  When portraying the purchase of these assets, your in-universe explanation can be that the player character or someone they know crafted it.

Crafting & Organizations

Organizations can perform large scale crafting projects, as well as creating assets.  If the player characters are commanding other people to craft things for them, these are the rules that apply.
