Armor Concealability
Concealability rating on armor is added to the disguise (Social + Stealth) roll made to hide the fact that you’re wearing armor. If the concealability rating is a negative number, that is the number of dice you lose for this roll. The roll is contested by (Mental) + (Physical Awareness). If someone detects your armor, they automatically know it’s rating.
Equipped Armor Limitations
A character may wear up to 1 set of armor at a time. There are no exceptions to this rule.
Armor Stacking
Some powers may provide additional armor. The armor provided by powers stacks with worn armor, unless the power explicitly states that it does not stack.
Armor At Character Creation
Player characters begin play with one set of armor of their choice, unless otherwise specified by the GM. There is no need to buy or pay for this default armor set. Players who wish to have exceptional or magical armor may get it by taking the Magic Armor asset, or by making their armor into a power limiter.
Armor Cosmetics
The Fantastical Armor mod will allow you to make your armor look however you want it to look, including not appearing to be armor at all. If you want to go naked without sacrificing your defense dicepools, this is the mod for you.
If you don’t want to use the Fantastical Armor mod, your armor can still appear however you want it to look, as long as it appears to be armor.
Magic Armor Asset Mods
Mods added via the Magic Armor asset use the following rules:
Each point of this Asset allows you to put an equal number of points of mods on the armor. Mods which have multiple levels of effectiveness do not have prerequisites; the cost is baked into the cost of the mod. Mods which have multiple levels of effectiveness do not stack with each other.
This asset is not meant to be used alone to create an Iron Man suit. Power Limiters are the primary system for doing that sort of thing.
Fantastical Armor
Cost: 1
This mod enables you to create whatever cosmetic appearance you wish for your armor, including the appearance of not wearing armor at all.
Mechanically, this mod changes the test to detect your armor from (Mental + Physical Awareness) to (Mental + Spiritual Awareness). Concealability is still added as a modifier to this roll.
Your armor has an astral, spiritual, presence. Those with spiritual senses properly tuned can detect that a person with Fantastical Armor is tougher & more dangerous than they appear to be. No amount of Physical Awareness can detect your armor until they witness you being attacked. Once you’ve been attacked, your armor is obviously magical, and is automatically detected with no need for rolls. They also know exactly what your armor rating is.
Your armor needn’t have the cosmetic appearance of typical armor; a suit of chain mail, kevlar, or other tough materials. Your armor can have a very exotic, and obviously magical, appearance: a force-field, a levitating spinning blade of fire, a ghostly protector, etc. Your armor could consist of a single magical item which protects you from harm; a ring of protection, an amulet, etc. You could also go naked, appearing to have no armor at all. This mod enables all of these options and more for your character.
Aside from the things mentioned above, all the normal rules still apply to your armor. You still need to “put on” and “take off” your armor, although exactly what that entails may be strange, exotic, or magical, depending on what your Fantastical Armor looks like. If you don’t want to deal with that, you should take the Comfortable armor mod so that you can “wear” it at all times.
